Up on the Galloping Horse Hill, there is a beautiful cloud
Gently shining upon the City of Kangding,
Moon, oh crescent moon, the City of Kangding.

The eldest daughter of the Lee family
Has a lovely personality.
The eldest son of the Zhang family
Has fallen in love with her.
Moon oh crescent moon, he's fallen in love with her.

2.   EATING GRAPES - 吃葡萄

This piece is based on a common Mandarin tongue-twister, translated as:

If you eat grapes, you spit out the peels.
If you don't eat grapes, you don't spit out the peels.

吃葡萄, 吐葡萄皮
不吃葡萄, 不吐葡萄皮。

Chī pútáo, tǔ pútáo pí
Bù chī pútáo, bù tǔ pútáo pí.

3.  IN THE MOON (YOU'LL SEE MY HEART) - (Translated by Stephanie Chou. Based on "The Moon Represents My Heart" (月亮代表我的心), Music by Tang Ni, Lyrics by Sun Yi)

You ask me how I feel for you, I've said it all before.

My kisses are true, my love's all for you. In the moon you'll see my heart.

You ask me why I love you so, I've told you from the start.

My kisses won't change, my love stays the same. In the moon you'll see my heart.

One touch, one sweet embrace is enough to move my soul.

Our time, so brief, so deep. Reminds me how I miss you.

How can you doubt my love for you? You know it's always the same.

My kisses are pure, I've always been sure. In the moon you'll see my heart.

You ask me how my pure love shines, how many ways can I show?

From sea to shore, I've said it all before. In the moon you'll see my heart.

Your touch, gentle caress. A lonesome memory.

Our time, too short, too fast. Why couldn't we make it last?

Go think about our love. My kisses won't change. My kisses are pure.

Go think about our love, look at the stars above.

Don't tell me why or how, just do you love me now?

In the moon you'll see my heart.

4.  ASYMPTOTE

I wanted to be near you; you want to be free.

The more you look, the less you, you really see.

When will I be your one and only? Is it just a silly dream?

Your light is shining brightly, it draws me to you.

The way you see the world is so strange and yet so true.

Don't let this be the end of dreaming. There's so much more we can do.

I wanted to be near you; you want to be free.

The more we grew, the closer we came to what could be.

When will I be your one and only? Was it just a silly dream?

You wanted me to hear you.  This is all you can be.

I know you wish you could be that man for me.

Have you just reached your limit, baby?

Well I guess in time, we'll see.

How can it be that you're so far away? Come back to me.

Can we heal our pain and grow something sweetly?

My love for you is so deep, with no bounds at the end of infinity...

So near, so far, come with me. We could reach the stars!

I wanted to be near you; you want to be free.

Don't let us only live in sweet memories.

And if you would let me closer, we'll feel so free.

My love still burns so brightly.

Do you see me?

5.  PENELOPE

Where are you? Can you hear me now? I can't see through all the clouds.

I call your name out into the darkness. Quietly, echoes through the twilight.

No reply, oh desperation, I am losing sight.

I call your name out into the darkness. Quietly, echoes through the twilight.

No reply, oh desperation, I am losing sight.

You're the only reason to carry on, drifting through the loneliness.

I'll find a way to come back, somehow. Oh, I will not rest.

You're the only reason, (Where are you?) I'm sailing onward through the tides. (Can you hear me now?)

I'll find a way to see you again, even if it takes all my life (I can't see through all the clouds).

And you're my only reason. (Where are you?) All the Sirens' calls are wrong. (Can you hear me now?)

You're almost within reach now, so close. Oh when can I hear your song? (I can't see through all the clouds).

You're my only reason. Without you I've felt so alone. (Can you hear me now?)

The storm will soon be over, at last.  (I can't see through all the clouds).

Finally, I'm almost home.

8.  QUIET NIGHT THOUGHT - 靜夜思

Poem by Li Bai (Li Po) - 李白, 701-762 A.D.

This is a setting of one of the most famous poems by Li Bai, one of China's greatest poets:

床前明月光                               Chuáng qián míng yuèguāng
疑是地上霜                               Yí shì dìshàng shuāng
舉頭望明月                               Jǔ tóu wàng míngyuè
低頭思故鄉                               Dītóu sī gùxiāng

So bright a gleam on the foot of my bed
Could there have been a frost already?
Lifting myself to look, I found that it was moonlight
Sinking back, I thought suddenly of home.

9.   MAKING TOFU -  做豆腐

做豆腐, 真辛苦. 半夜起來磨.                                         Zuò dòufu, zhēn xìn kǔ. Bànyè qǐlái mó .

磨好了還要煮. 加上些石膏,                                           Mó hǎole hái yào zhǔ . jiā shàng xiē shígāo,

才成好豆腐                                                                      Cái chéng hǎo dòufu

Making tofu is such hard work.  You have to get up in the middle of the night to stir it.

After stirring, then you must cook it. Add some coagulants....

Only then, will you have good tofu.

10.  IN THE FOREST

In the forest lives a man, searching for his love.

His so forlorn, oh wretched heart.

The pain, he can't escape it.

But then he finds her, right there in the meadow.

She's smiling in sunshine...

Joy overflows!

Wait, oh no.

Light was playing tricks on his mind, again.

11.  MOON RECRUDESCENCE   - (Based on "In the Moon You'll See My Heart")

你問我愛你喲多深                            Nǐ wèn wǒ ài nǐ yō duō shēn?

我愛你有幾分                                    Wǒ ài nǐ yǒu jǐ fēn

我的轻不宜                                        Wǒ de qīng bùyí

我的愛不變                                         Wǒ de ài bù biàn

月亮代表我的心                                 Yuèliàng dàibiǎo wǒ de xīn

You ask me how deep is my love? How much do I love you?

My kisses won't change, my love stays the same.

In the moon, you'll see my heart.
